A Published Florist
So, I have been published before so it's not really new. But, it never ceases to amaze me when it *does* happen! Thank you to Glittery Bride for featuring us!
I got asked to design a bouquet for (and subsequently model for) this little shoot at the beautiful Greystone Estate and I thought, "why not?!". It's probably the smallest project I've ever worked on and yet it got the most exposure. Go figure!
This bouquet was such a fun experiment for me. I'll be honest, I had never worked with amaryllis before. It's stems (stalks?) are HUGE. Not only that but they are fragile, hollow, and crush incredibly easy. Their blooms are so beautiful though and I was determined to make it work. What a payoff! In the end, this bouquet lasted a full WEEK after I was done with it!
To accompany that gorgeous flower I also incorporated texture (which you know I'm all about) by using an air plant. I have used them in centerpieces before but never a bouquet (this thing was full of firsts!). It took a few tries to stake the plant but I finally made it happen. It was a lovely, whimsical addition to this bouquet. I love how it's "tentacles" dance around and curve to cradle the greens in front. Add some Oregon eucalyptus, dusty miller, astrantia, blackberries, an interesting fern, roses, and olive branch, then you've got yourself a bouquet of flowery perfection!
